Carol Vorderman’s 28 Day detox diet
Amazon.co.uk Review
TV presenter Carol Vorderman looks great for any age, never mind a fortysomething with two youngsters. Vorderman attributes her new slim shape and bundles of new-found energy to a detox diet. Her 28 Day detox diet is not a diet video as such. It is a 28-day plan to revamp the way you eat, plan and think about food. Assisted by “detox guru” Ko Chohan (who created the plan), Carol explains her own trials with diets that didn’t work, illustrated by “before” photos from when she was two stone heavier and the “after” footage now. Carol makes it sound easy and is a charming host; her own physical beauty is compelling evidence for the plan’s success. An illustrated card–the free 28 Day detox diet Guide–provides a thumbnail guide to the diet’s principles. Basically, to flush out impurities and bloating, it suggests eating lots of fruit, veggies and such. No dairy, any meat– not even fish!–or sugar. No tea or coffee. Although the video lacks intense or scientific detail, Carol’s approach is fresh, easy-to-understand and a joy to watch. Following three very different detox guinea pigs–a single mum, a single career girl and a married woman–via their video diaries, we are shown the real difficulties behind following the detox plan. This is the video for anyone who wants to lose weight and gain more energy, and is willing to make drastic, if eventually delicious and healthy changes to his or her lifestyle for 28 days. –Karen Krizanovich

IT REALLY, REALLY WORKS!, 5 Aug 2005

Reviewer: “amunata” - See all my reviews

I bought this video in desperation in August 2001. I was ill, fat, in pain from osteoarthritis and 3.5 stone overweight. 28 days later I’d gone down a dress size and felt great. I started exercising for the first time in my life and eating according to the guidelines in the video, and 3 months later did the detox again. By Christmas I’d shed the 3.5 stone, dropping from a 14/16 to 8/10 (6 for trousers!) My lifestyle and eating habits have changed completely and I’m fitter and healthier than I’ve ever been! I couldn’t lift a teapot… now I lift weights at the gym.You have to really want to help yourself and change your perceptions of food, nutrition and dieting. This is not a another fad, but a total re-education of mind and body.

The Odo’s oil really sucks … yuech! Any good health food shop will advise on a substitute in capsule form. As far as supplements are concerned, if you take nothing else, take the milk thistle - it really helps clear the toxins out the system.

Watching the video several times helped me when I was tempted to give up. The regime is pretty boring by week 4.. but by that time you are feeling the great results.

Would benefit from some good recipes - now available with the book that came out later.

Definitely a ‘must have’ if you want to turn your life around.

I lost Lots Of Weight When I Followed The Lemonade Detox Diet

Most of us have battled with diets at one point or the other in our lives in order to lose a few pounds; however, here is a diet that does not only help you lose some pounds but will also cleanse your body in the process. The lemonade detox diet has been used by many with successful results but, you must be warned that it is not the easiest way to detox or diet.

Dieting and Detoxing at the Same Time

The lemonade detox diet is simple as it basically consists of lemons, water and natural maple syrup and cayenne pepper.

Lemon works as a natural cleanser for the colon and it is very high in vitamins and nutrients so, you don’t suffer any loss of these in the lemonade detox diet. Therefore, everyday for a week or two at the most all you need to do is make a gallon of lemonade detox diet drink and have the same throughout the day. You can have as such water as you like as well along with the lemonade detox diet as it will help cleanse your body and replenish any lost fluids in the process.

My Tips During My Ten Day detox diet

The lemonade detox diet may not be practical for everyone and if you think you cannot do it, try an alternative, which is having the same quantities of lemonade with a healthy meal as the citrus syrup from the lemons helps slow down the digestion of carbohydrates. This in turn will break the cycle of producing high levels of insulin that is at the base of your hunger and weight gain.

The lemonade detox diet should be used with healthy meals only if you want results to show and not with fast food greasy items or chocolate. In order to see the full results of this process, you can not choose to have lemonade in addition to your regular meals, it is supposed to replace meals, not complement them.I have also written a ten day diary relating to this detox program which you can read here which shows you what to expect and how I felt during the ten days. I did lose a lot of weight and and I do recommend it if you want to lose excess weight quickly and feel refreshed at the end of it but be warned, it is hard.

Tips For Maintaining a Liver Detox Diet

The Liver controls lots of different functions within the body. The most important function of the liver is to purify and detoxify our bloodstream.  When the liver becomes overloaded by toxins on a constant basis, the ability to cleanse the blood becomes hindered.  In some instances, it completely shuts down, resulting in death.  It is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle including the proper diet, exercise and emotional stability in order for the body to function at its best.

Keys to Implementing a Liver detox diet

What is the best way to incorporate a liver detox diet into your life?  Some people decide to become vegetarians, claiming that any amount of animal products put a great strain on the liver.  Others ascribe to an “everything in moderation” diet, in which portion control is the key factor.  There is no doubt that too much of a good thing can be too much for the liver.

For example, consuming a large portion of red meat can cause the liver to work overtime trying to help digest and break down the protein.  Therefore, nutritionists recommend a portion no larger than the palm of your hand on your dinner plate.  Keeping your meals small can lessen the work of your liver, giving it a greater functioning ability for a longer amount of time.

Another step to the liver detox diet is to drink adequate amounts of water throughout the day.  Water helps to cleanse the body of harmful and unwanted toxins, helping the liver to do its job properly.  Avoiding processed foods filled with chemicals, preservatives, and refined sugars can lessen the strain put on the liver to rid the body of these toxic materials.  Choosing whole foods such as whole grains, fresh or frozen fruits or vegetables, and hormone/antibiotic free animal products can go a long way to achieving health on the liver detox diet. Benefits of a Liver detox diet

It is believed that maintaining a healthy liver detox diet is a key to a long and healthy life. Many notice increased energy after making necessary changes in their lives in order to maintain their health.  Also, weight loss occurs for many people as a pleasant side-effect to eating healthy and exercising regularly.  By far the benefits of a healthy liver detox diet far outweigh the added stress of preparing more home-cooked meals or planning ahead.  Alcohol is the worse thing for your liver as it can cause liver failure although the odd glass of wine or pint of beer will not cause it any harm.
