Carol Vorderman’s 28 Day Detox Diet
April 2nd, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedTV presenter Carol Vorderman looks great for any age, never mind a fortysomething with two youngsters. Vorderman attributes her new slim shape and bundles of new-found energy to a detox diet. Her 28 Day detox diet is not a diet video as such. It is a 28-day plan to revamp the way you eat, plan and think about food. Assisted by “detox guru” Ko Chohan (who created the plan), Carol explains her own trials with diets that didn’t work, illustrated by “before” photos from when she was two stone heavier and the “after” footage now. Carol makes it sound easy and is a charming host; her own physical beauty is compelling evidence for the plan’s success. An illustrated card–the free 28 Day detox diet Guide–provides a thumbnail guide to the diet’s principles. Basically, to flush out impurities and bloating, it suggests eating lots of fruit, veggies and such. No dairy, any meat– not even fish!–or sugar. No tea or coffee. Although the video lacks intense or scientific detail, Carol’s approach is fresh, easy-to-understand and a joy to watch. Following three very different detox guinea pigs–a single mum, a single career girl and a married woman–via their video diaries, we are shown the real difficulties behind following the detox plan. This is the video for anyone who wants to lose weight and gain more energy, and is willing to make drastic, if eventually delicious and healthy changes to his or her lifestyle for 28 days. –Karen Krizanovich

I bought this video in desperation in August 2001. I was ill, fat, in pain from osteoarthritis and 3.5 stone overweight. 28 days later I’d gone down a dress size and felt great. I started exercising for the first time in my life and eating according to the guidelines in the video, and 3 months later did the detox again. By Christmas I’d shed the 3.5 stone, dropping from a 14/16 to 8/10 (6 for trousers!) My lifestyle and eating habits have changed completely and I’m fitter and healthier than I’ve ever been! I couldn’t lift a teapot… now I lift weights at the gym.You have to really want to help yourself and change your perceptions of food, nutrition and dieting. This is not a another fad, but a total re-education of mind and body.
The Odo’s oil really sucks … yuech! Any good health food shop will advise on a substitute in capsule form. As far as supplements are concerned, if you take nothing else, take the milk thistle - it really helps clear the toxins out the system.
Watching the video several times helped me when I was tempted to give up. The regime is pretty boring by week 4.. but by that time you are feeling the great results.
Would benefit from some good recipes - now available with the book that came out later.
Definitely a ‘must have’ if you want to turn your life around.
