My Rapid Detox Diary
My Diary During My Rapid detox diet and The weight loss Which Followed
For those who follow the latest in diets and weight loss programs the rapid detox diet is one of the strictest detox diets around. Detox diets can range from very strict to somewhat loose in the foods that can and can’t be included. The stated objective of a weight loss and detox diet is flush toxins from the fat cells of the body. Naturally, any type of diet that emphasizes flushing stresses lots of fiber and water.
This type of diet is not good for the long haul as important nutrients are lost. However, for a week or so, a detox diet can benefit the body by eliminating the bad food habits we pick up and adding hydration. The really good thing is that weight loss and detox dieting go hand in hand.
The Diet
Different dieticians and holistic practitioners offer a variety of diets that detox the body. In general, they have some things in common. First and foremost is the water; at least eight glasses of water every day will help flush out those toxins. The reason that weight loss and detox dieting go together is that by drinking a lot of water, the stomach feels full and meals are smaller. The water regimen, by the way is one part of this diet that can be good for you on a long term basis.
The next part is to cut out foods that are full of additives or that contain possibly harmful ingredients. Among harmful ingredients are concentrated sugars and caffeine. Many people find that food allergies are not just developed in childhood; some allergies can develop later in life and cause water retention, fatigue and a feeling of being “off.” For this reason, a week without the foods that most often cause allergies is a good thing. They include dairy products, wheat, gluten, and peanuts.
Most forms of the detox diet limit protein to rice with beans and fish. While weight loss and detox benefits will naturally follow such a restricted diet, prolonged use of it will result in insufficient calcium. Fresh fruits and vegetables are usually unlimited, which is a good idea on any diet. Side effects can include headaches and this is usually due to the sudden elimination of caffeine.
The Rapid detox diet is a very strict detox diet which is very hard and willpower is required and the following is how I survived for ten days:
My Ten Day Rapid Detox Diary:
The Preparation and Recipe:
The day before I was due to start my detox I first of all went shopping to buy the ingredients that were required for the full ten days.
· They are as follows:
· 20 lemons
· 20 limes
· Ten 1.5litre bottles of still spring wate
· Can of madal bal natural maple tree syrup
· Cayenne pepper
On the eve of the diet I sat in front of the television and had a few large glasses of wine and one scrumptious curry preparing myself for what was to come by reading success stories on the internet.
I usually try to attend keep fit classes a couple of times per week but I was quite pleased to read that you must refrain from all exercise while undertaking this rapid detox diet.
Day one:
I awoke full of determination to succeed and began preparing my drink which I would be drinking for the next ten days. I weighed myself and I was 12st 2lbs. This made me even more determined.
To prepare the drink you need to squeeze two lemons and two limes (if you prefer you can use 4 lemons) and then add this juice to 4 tablespoons of natural maple syrup. Then add this to the bottle of still water (drink a bit of water first to make room for the syrup and lemon mixture in the bottle).
I then chilled this before drinking as I found it was easier to stomach.
About an hour after waking I began to get hungry, craving my cornflakes so now was the time for my first ‘meal’ of the day….. I poured a glass of my lemon juice drink, added a bit of cayenne pepper and took a small sip….and boy was I glad it was a small sip…..it was disgusting (my sister actually liked it though!) It was at this point I nearly gave up as I thought to myself, ‘how am I going to survive ten days on this so called drink’. I then tried another sip but this time through a straw….that was much better and I managed to get through it all in about ten minutes. I had to drink all of the mixture I had prepared in one day so I had a glass of it on my desk and sipped it throughout the day.
Felt really good about myself when it was time to go to bed as I had finished day one without too much trouble.
Day two:
I awoke on this day feeling ok but not looking forward to my breakfast!
I was also missing my cup of tea in the morning.
I got through the day without much problem but by now the hunger was really getting to me…..i was starving, so I went to bed early to stop me from thinking about food.
Day three:
Today was much the same as yesterday, again feeling very hungry and I had a headache which was probably due to not having any caffeine. I was quite depressed as the thought of just drinking lemon juice drink all day was not good. I decided to make my drink for the following day to make sure I had it chilled first thing incase I fell off the wagon and reached for the cornflakes!
Day Four:
Again up I got, and I am sure that if my drink was not waiting for me in the fridge I would have eaten a whole box of cornflakes!
I struggled through another day but by the end of it I was actually not feeling hungry.
Even at the hardest time of the day (cooking for the rest of the family) I did not feel tempted.
By bedtime I felt positive again and thought to myself that I only had six days to go and marked it on the calendar.
Day five to eight:
These days were quite hard. Although I had headaches and felt quite weak, the hunger had gone and my jeans were getting bigger. I also had a bit of constipation and if you do get this I recommend you drink a laxative tea. I did slip off the wagon, just for a minute during preparing tea for my son. I was grilling him a chicken breast in breadcrumbs and when I turned it over a little piece came off in my fingers. It was the size of a one pence piece and did I ever feel guilty for eating it! This made me more determined than ever to continue to the end.
Day nine:
This day was easy because the thought of only one more day to go just spurred me on.
Day ten:
This was the easiest of them all….. I had almost finished and I felt great. My skin looked so clear….all my spots had gone and I knew I had lost weight…I just couldn’t wait to get on the scales the next morning.
The next day I was amazed to see that I had lost eighteen pound in ten days…..so it had all been worth it……..and I felt better than I had in years.
When you finish the rapid detox diet you need to re introduce your food back in to your diet over a couple of days.
Start with orange juice on the first day, followed by soup and fresh vegetables on the following couple of days. If you maintain a healthy eating plan you will not regain your weight that you have lost.
